July 2015 Theme Reveal

Hi there! I have been missing from blogging and I have missed it! The last blogging marathon I did was the AtoZChallenge back in April. The main reason for being missing in action is that I find it difficult to come up with just one blog topic. Looking back at my AtoZ Challenge experience, I noticed that I am able to write on topics when I choose a theme. So here goes…{Drum roll please…}

For July, my theme for blogging would be “Marketing and Business Insights for Small and Medium Businesses”. I might digress a little bit with some personal blogs here and there but largely will try to stick to this theme for July. l am currently doing an excellent workshop by San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) for small and medium business owners and they cover some great business topics. The highlight for me is to be in a room full of entrepreneurs with some having at least a decade of experience. The feedback they give on various topics is valuable for me as a new entrepreneur and I hope to share some of my views on various topics via this blog. I also plan to interview one or two entrepreneurs, so if you have any questions you would like to ask them, please let me know in the comments section below.

As always, I hope to make my posts fun and informative at the same time. So stay tuned…!

  1. When we took up the Agency for Shell Lubricants this was the first lesson taught to us by our regional Manager.
    The second rule which is to be adopted to increase your sales is to Map out your area.In case of Shell Lubricants we started with Identifying the Industrial Customers in MIDC( Maharastra Industrial Developement Corp. etc.
    We concentrated in Thane Belapur Belt where all the Industries shifted out Of Mumbai owing to logistics and Labour Problems including surcharge of Octroi on all incoming Goods.
    This is to be adopted to avoid depending on few large customers.Once your customer base is large you can take a hit.Every 4 to 5 years one large customer leaves you for various reasons. In 2013/14 we gave up our Shell Industrial Business in One company and concentrated on Marine Business which accounted for 80% of our business.
    In 2015 we became an international reseller for shell.That means we can supply Shell Lubricants to any part of the world.With Shell offering their Logistics and Supply locations to strengthen our Business IQ.There was a case where we outbid The Shell Quotation as our Logistics overheads were far less than Shell.
